Nowadays, people are facing many difficulties and challenges because of “Global warming” and “Climate change” caused by human activities. The human activities have increased the release of large amounts of carbon dioxide including other greenhouse gases in the air. The emission of carbon dioxide by the people, brings lots of tragedy for all the creatures and for our mother “Earth”. To be able to reduce the carbon footprint in our environment, we need to have a behavior change.

Moreover, Pope Francis also mentioned to give the special care to God’s creature in his message to people. He said “If we destroy creation, creation will destroy us”.

In order to take care of our “Mother Earth”, we, the teachers from Sacred Heart School gave the awareness sessions like talks to the students by using power point presentation. During sharing and exchanging the viewpoints, the students also discussed and presented their ideas actively. The students gained much knowledge from the sharing and by looking at the images from the presentation.

After having talks for the students, the school arranged for trees planting at Tel Pin Kyoe village which is far from Pyay about 45 minutes by car. The motto for the activity was “Let’s plant the trees to save and beautify our planet”. For trees planting, the secondary school students went to the village by vehicles. They carried lunch boxes, snacks and water bottles with them. The primary school students remained in the school and planted the trees in the school compound and at the Novitiate farm. During “tree planting activity”, the students participated actively and happily as they had an opportunity to put their knowledge into practice. We, the sisters and teachers appreciated for the cooperation and active participation of the students. Let us be co-creators of Our Loving God by saving the planet!
